Bø Sommarland is a very different kind of Telemark day: water, slides, queues, children running between attractions and very little reason to think about hiking boots. For families, that can be exactly the point.
The park is large enough that it is worth looking at the attraction map before you arrive, especially with children of different ages. Some areas are designed for younger children and gentle water play, while the larger slides and faster attractions suit older children, teenagers and adults.
Make one full day of it
This is not a place that benefits from trying to squeeze it between other stops. Arrive early, choose a few attractions everyone cares about, and let the rest of the day unfold. Height and age rules vary by attraction, so checking those in advance saves a lot of negotiation once everyone is already wet.
On warm summer days the park can be busy, but that is part of its character. The useful contrast is that the plan is completely obvious: swim, slide, eat, repeat until the children have had enough.

Add climbing if the family still has energy
Høyt & Lavt Bø sits nearby and gives the day another option: climbing courses and ziplines through the forest. It can work as an alternative to the water park or as a separate day for children who would rather climb than swim.
The combination makes Bø useful for mixed families. One day can be entirely about water; another can be about climbing and movement in the trees. Neither requires much interpretation — the children usually understand the appeal immediately.
A summer-only plan
Bø Sommarland is seasonal, so opening dates and attraction status should always be checked before the drive. In the main summer period it is one of the clearest full-day family outings in Telemark.
